# Should I purchase a secondhand Enomatic?

## Thinking about a secondhand Enomatic or Le Verre de Vin+ by Bermar? Here’s what to check on parts, warranty and real costs, and the safest way to buy used.

We get it. A new wine system is a real investment, and a secondhand listing at half the price is tempting. Here’s the honest picture, so you can make the call with your eyes open.

---

### Can I buy a secondhand Enomatic or Le Verre de Vin+ machine?

Machines turn up on Marketplace, Gumtree, at auctions and when venues close or refit.

Our advice: unless it’s coming through [SilverChef’s Certified Used program](https://www.silverchef.com.au/a/search/all-equipment/?affiliate=0016F000038TVbj&dealer=Wine+Pouring+Systems&filter_product_condition=Certified+Used&cs_theme=147758514236), think very carefully before you hand over the money. A low sticker price can turn into an expensive machine quite quickly.

---

### Why don’t we recommend buying secondhand privately?

Mostly for three reasons:

1. **No warranty.** A private sale is sold as-is. If a pump, valve or display fails the week after it’s installed, the repair bill is yours. (We also see a lot of units sold that have faults, which you don't know until you go to use it.)
2. **Parts for old models are expensive**, if you can get them at all.
3. **You don’t know its history.** Wine machines need regular cleaning and maintenance. A unit that’s sat unused, been stored with wine in the lines, or skipped its servicing can look fine and still have problems waiting inside.

---

### Are parts still available for older models?

Sometimes.

Our machines are made in Europe, so every part is imported from Italy. If we don't have something in stock, even a small component carries international freight and a wait. For current models, we keep common parts and consumables in stock in Australia. Older or discontinued models are a different story. Some parts have to be specially ordered, some cost far more than you’d expect, and some simply aren’t made anymore.

If a critical part is no longer available, an otherwise working machine can become very expensive to keep running, or impossible to repair.

---

### Does a secondhand machine come with a warranty?

A private sale doesn’t. Once it’s yours, any fault is your cost to fix, including parts, freight and labour.

A new machine us comes with the full manufacturer’s warranty, and our team supports you directly through installation and setup. [SilverChef’s Certified Used equipment](https://www.silverchef.com.au/a/search/all-equipment/?affiliate=0016F000038TVbj&dealer=Wine+Pouring+Systems&filter_product_condition=Certified+Used&cs_theme=147758514236) also comes with its own parts and labour warranty.

---

### Is secondhand actually cheaper?

Sometimes, but the listing price is rarely the full cost. Before you compare, add up:

- **Installation and training.** Self-service machines need professional installation and setup, whether new or used.
- **A service check.** We’d strongly recommend having any used machine inspected and serviced before it goes into use. This means having it sent to us in Queensland, or us coming on-site to you.
- **Repairs and parts.** Worn seals, valves or pumps on an older machine add up quickly once freight from Europe is included.
- **Gas setup.** Your Enomatic needs the right gas supply and regulator. If these aren’t included or aren’t compatible, that’s another cost.

Once those are added, the gap between used and new is often much smaller than it first looks.

---

### What about machines bought from overseas?

Be especially careful here. A machine built for another market may run on a different voltage or plug standard, and it may not meet Australian electrical requirements. Parts and support can also be harder to source for models that weren’t supplied here.

---

### I’ve already bought a secondhand machine. Can you help?

Of course. We’ll never leave a machine (or a venue) stranded.

Get in touch with us to access our free Knowledge Base for maintenance and troubleshooting guides. If you need more help, lodge a Support Request Form. We can help remotely or arrange an on-site visit at our standard rates.

---

### What’s the safest way to buy secondhand?

Through [**SilverChef’s Certified Used**](https://www.silverchef.com.au/a/search/all-equipment/?affiliate=0016F000038TVbj&dealer=Wine+Pouring+Systems&filter_product_condition=Certified+Used&cs_theme=147758514236) program.

SilverChef is a hospitality equipment finance company. When their customers upgrade or return equipment, SilverChef refurbishes it and resells it. SilverChef only resells equipment it originally financed, so you know the machine was supplied for the Australian market.

Here’s what you get that you won’t get from a private sale:

- **Professionally refurbished.** Qualified technicians clean each unit, repair it where needed, then run-test and quality-check it before it’s listed.
- **A parts and labour warranty.** Certified Used equipment comes with a three-month parts and labour warranty.
- **Flexible ways to pay.** Buy it outright, or rent it through SilverChef’s Rent-Try-Buy.

Stock comes and goes, so keep an eye out for new listings.

---

### Can I try a new machine before committing to it?

Yes. [SilverChef’s Rent-Try-Buy](https://www.silverchef.com.au/pages/rent-try-buy/?affiliate=0016F000038TVbj&dealer=Wine%20Pouring%20Systems) is a good option if you want a brand new machine but you’re not sure yet. It works on both new and Certified Used equipment, across our Enomatic and Le Verre de Vin+ by Bermar ranges (subject to SilverChef’s approval process).

- You get up to 12 months to trial the system in your own venue.
- Buy it once you’re confident it’s right for you.
- Not working out? Send it back, upgrade to a different system, or swap to something else in SilverChef’s range.

It’s a rental, not a free trial: you pay SilverChef a regular rental fee the whole time. The appeal is smaller ongoing payments instead of one big upfront cost.

### Is buying new outright still a good option?

Absolutely. If you already know what you want, buying new is a sound investment. You get a current model, the full warranty, parts availability and our team supporting you from installation onwards.
